REPATRIATION.
DISTRESSED COLONIAL AND IN-
DIAN SUBJECTS.

LONDON, May 13. A committee has been appointed by Lord Crewe to enquire into the needs of distressed colonial and Indian subjects. These subjects are subdivided into "seamen" and "non-seamen."
The committee recommends that, in regard to the case of seamen belonging to the Dominions, notices be posted in shipping offices in the Dominions, informing them of the new conditions. If they sign on for a voyage terminating in Britain they may experience difficulty in finding a shy ior a return voyage, and the Governments of the Dominions should arrange with the Board of Trade for repatriation, those recommended b.y the High Commissioners or Agents-Gen-eral to have expenses of repatriation P aid - c v i^ The expenses of non-seamen should not be borne by the Government of the possession to which the distressed belongs, but a small vote should be taken by the local Government Board to repay tne expenses of guardians or charities which have incurred die cost of ation.
