(Received April 13, 9 a.m.) NEW YORK, April 12. The trial of Dr Hydo in connection with the Swope murder has begun in Kansas City. It will take several days to complete the jury.

On February 1 ■ this year it was reported that Colonel Thomas Swope, millionaire and philanthropist, of Kanr sas City, died suddenly, and subsequently, owing to cortain rumors, Dr Bennett Clarke Hyde sued Colonel Swope's executor, at Independence, Missouri, for slanderously accusing him of poisoning Colonel Swope, and his, Swope's nephew, who also died suddenly. The case took a sensational turn when it was announced that a chemical analysis of the remains shows that Colonel Swopq died from strychnine poisoning. In filing the case Dr Hyde further stated that defendant accused him of inoculating Colonel Swope and xhe members of his. family with the germs of typhoid, which several of the family had contracted. Dr Hyde, who married Colonel Swope's niece, attended Colonel Swope and other members of the family.
