PALMERSTON N., April 11. The police, assisted by several civilians, are continuing the search tor Powelka, but so far without result. The whole outskirts of the town have been patrolled; and paddocks and lagoons beaten, but the fugitive has disappeared most completely. _ Inspector Wilson.took charge of operations to-day, and Inspector Ellison arrives this afterndon to assist. The present party out searching will be augmented by a force of Territorials under local officers, and it is also quite probable the residents will form a Vigi- ' lance Committee. , . Several public institutions are being •watched at night, including ,the grandstand at Awapuni. The latest bulletin regarding bergt. MacGuire is that he is in a most critical condition. The bullet entered the abdomen at the rigbt side just below -the liver, and penetrated the stomacn. The bowels are severely lacerated. The latest report is that Powelka has just been seen in the grounds attached to the Governor's late residence at Hokowliitu, and a posse of po» ce > together with armed civilians, feave left 'for the scene.
