CHRISTCHURCH, April 21.

Ernest Handock and William Hutchinson, young men, were charged at the Magistrate's Court with assaulting and robbing Henry John Lawrence, of Ashburton Falls, of £65 in money and a cheque for £22 10s on April 13. The evidence was that whilst returning from Riccarton races in a public drag, the two accused lined Lawrence's pocket, the others in the drag not interfering, though Lawrence screamed when accused robbed him: Both were committed for trial.
