DRAMATICALLY DECIDE TO GO TO

GAOL.

fPEEBB ASSOCIATION.]

(Received October 26, 8.10 a.m.) LONDON, October 25.

After hearing 27 witnesses the Magistrate refused to permit of the waste of time of the Court in listening to a further string testifying to t the orderly conduct of the suffragette crowd.

He bound Mrs Pankhurst and Mrs Drummond in sums of £300 to keep the peace for a year, with an alternative of three months' imprisonment, and Miss Pankhurst was given an alternative of ten weeks' imprisonment. Miss Pankhurst, after an emotional speech of an hour's length, burst into tears. Mrs Pankhurst also concluded by sobbing.

After the Magistrate's sentence the prisoners dramatically elected to go to prison.

The officials failed to suppress a loud and continued suffragette demonstration in the Court.
