IMMIGRATION.

DUNEDIN, October 23. The Karamea, which arrived from London to-day, brought 188 immigrants, 108 of whom have" been assisted by the Government. About half a dozen are returned New Zealanders, and the remainder have been assisted j by friends in New Zealand or came out on their own initiative. The new arrivals include 17 farmers, one dairy farmer, 6 farm laborers, 10 domestics, and 8 married women coming out to join their husbands. The immigrants have capital ranging from £25 to £350. Those bound for the North left by the Talune this afternoon, their destinations being: Lyttelton 47, Westport 3, Wellington 55, Napier 2, New Plymouth 4, Auckland 63.
