EX-MAYOR LEAVES £3,500 AND TWO HOUSES TO A SERVANT. Mr Charles William Jones, of Gwynfryn, Carmarthen, an ex-mayor of the town, who died on July 15 at -the age of, 72 leaving a fortune of £72, '26, bequeathed to his wife "the sum of one shilling." He left £2,500, a field, two cottoges, and certain furniture to his servant. Elizabeth Owens, in recognition of twenty five years' service; £500 to his servant Martha Owens, and £200 and two houses to his servant James Davies. He left £7,000 to provide pensions for ten deserving men over sixty years of age residing in Carmarthenshire, and £2,850 for charitable purposes, including a legacy for£l,soo to the Carmarthen Infirmary and £500 for a yearly distribution of bread and coal to poor people in Carmarthen every New Year's Day. Among Mr Jones's other bequests were £500 to Caswallon J. Price, grocer, of Merthyr Tydvil; £100 to William Jones, formerly his apprentice; £50 to John Jones, tailor; and a field to David Nichall Evans, a clerk in the Probate Registry.
