(To the Editor.) ) , Sir, — Re your report o£ the -meet/ing held b^ Mr Major here on the %sth inst. The resolution as proposed b\y Mr Speight in favor of Mr 'Pearce ,' was , never to the meeting. Thatf partof it which appeared to favor Mr Major was put, but the Chairman, after being instructed by Mr Major, refused to put . the resolution as written by Mf Speight. He also refused to allow a 'division, though Mr Beake demanded' one,. Had the-, resolution been fairly put it would certainly nave, been carried, as three-fourths of those present were supporters of Mr Pearce.
