SPEECHES AND DOINGS IN AUCKLAND.
COMMENT IN ENGLAND.
LPREBB ASSOCIATION.! LONDON, August 10. The Times says that the British rather envy Australasia having the first opportunity of welcoming the American fleet, and considers the Admiralty acted wisely in not attempting to equal the display of naval force in Australasian waters. It was better to defer full greetings until the Mediterranean is reached, when the British fleet of ironclads will accord the Americans a hearty welcome. All the residents in the British Islands wish to associate themselves, says The Times, with Australasia's warm welcome.
