SELF DESTRUCTION.
AUCKLAND, August 8. A man named Emil Bach, supposed to be a German, committed suicide by shooting himself in Wellesley street on Saturday. Deceased spoke very English, and had been despondent through inability to get work. WANGANUI, August 8. A case of supposed attempted suicide occurred yesterday, a man named Gunn, employed on. the steamer Storm, taking laudanum. Treatment at the hospital proved successful, and the man was discharged from the institution this morning/ He was then arrested on a charge of attempting suicide.
