BOROUGH ; COUNCIL. (From Our Own Correspondent.) The monthly meeting of the Council was held last night; present — The Mayor (Mr T. C. Stanners) and Crs Crump, Cattanach, Amoore, Hill, Parrott; also Cr Tayler, who was welcomed by the Mayor and councillors, and' took his seat. Lady Plunket forwarded circular re Society for Promoting the Health of Women and Children, and asking the Council's opinion as to whether the services of a "Plunket" nurse would likely be availed of in this district combined with qther districts. — Referred to Finance Committee. The Tradesmen's Association wrote requesting; the Mayor to call a public meeting with a view to forming a Chamber of Commerce. — Left in the hands of Majror. to deal with. From the 'Municipal Association of New Zealand notifying that the biennial coference of delegates of the Association would , be held:, in July.—Referred to .Finance , Committee with power to act ?i ; The Premier wired that he would arrive at Elttiairi by the 11.50 a.m. train on Tuesday.— The Mayor and Crs Tayler and. Crump and the Hon. W. Camcross, ;were> appointed ! a- committee to make, all -necessary arrangements.
