IPUKBB ASSOCIATION.] WELLINGTON, April 20. The .first meeting of the UniteH Orange Grand/ Lodge of New Zealand' was opened this morning. The folldvpiiig, officers were elected and installed :— R.W. Grand Muster, Bro. J. Middloton; D.G.M. Bro. J, Aston; Forenunn of Committee Bro^ R. Meredith; Grand- Chaplain, ' Bro. Major Camming (Salvation Army)'; Grand Secretary, Bro. E. N. Bjudden; Grand Deacons, Bros. J. Barlow and' Caygill; Inner Guard, Bro. Martin; Tyler, Bro. King. It was resolved that representation as agreed to by .particular lodges should be the same as before amalgamation. The constitution agreed- upon provides amongst other things: That, setting aside party politics, the Orange Constitution shall only support the return to Parliament and all other public bodies men of sound and well-known Protestant principles; that no candidate shall be admitted under 18 years of age; that* no person who has been, at any time a Roman Catholic, or is married to one, shall be admitted into >the Institution, except upon testimonials of good character and satisfactory evidence produced,' showing that he and his wife have been recognised members of some Protestant Church for ait least five years, and by the unanimous vote of the Grand Lodge and a certificate ol his " having been unanimously elected by ballot in the lodge in> which he is proposed being sent to the Grand Lodge, and any member marrying . a . Catholic shall be expelled ; thai private lodges may elect members who have .served 25 years continuously, or in. recognition, ofpast services, <is life members/ providing such lodge pays the yearly capitation tax for such members as ordered by the Grand Lodge, And subject to the rules of the Institution.
