MONTHLY MEETING. The monthly meeting of the Waimato Road Board was held on Tuesday. There were present — Messrs T. Bridge (Chairman), W. T. Wells, E. Long. CORRESPONDENCE. H. J. He thought they would have to take the question of' bullocks into, consideration when letting future contracts'*. "' It'was'very hard on fences. Mr Long said it would cost more if bullocks were barred. • ■ ' The Chairman said some of the best contractors worked with bullocks. Referrirfg to the report, he recommended that , 6d extra be paid to O'Reilly for extra stuff required on the Sutherland road. Mr Long said there was gorse spreading on the Lower Normanby. and Kokiri; road. „It had. spread from native, land. He thought the Board should write., to the Public Trustee. Mr Wells /agreed. The gorse was getting into! the water-tables and made more work for -the surfacemen. ' It' was resolved to take action. Mr Wells said the boxthorn was also becoming a nuisance. In some places it w^'s nine feet; frofe/the fence line, : RETIRING MEMBERS. A ballot was ; taken to decide which of the Board should retire in view of the' election next, month. Messrs Long, Harcourt and, McPhillips will retire. . Outstanding rates.
