BoalAws HettoM. SUTTON'S DEVON EAVER RYE. IT IS PERENNIAL AND IT WILL NOT RUN OUT. THERE IS NOTHING NEW ABOUT SUTTON'S DEVON EaVER IT IS OVER 100 YEATS OLD. AS Rye Grass is the principal grass in all pastures for sheep or cattle^ it is very important that the greatest caution and car* be exercised in securing seed which will pro^e perennial and will nob run out. Experience' in England has proved thst seed saved by Suttonsi, from their old pastures m Devonshire, givee not only a grass which will last foi all time, but one which has easily- a greater feeding value than all others- . Esactly the same applies in this colony. The noted pastures in Poverty Bay and Hawke's Bay were all laid down with this seed more than fifty years ago, and are as good to-day as they er€<r were- in fact, eech year tfaey improve. Also, there is no doubt whatever that the finest stand* of Rye in Taranaki are those very old pastures which wero sown down wi th this old Devonshire seed in the early days by tho. Missionaries) It lias held better than all the seeds since sown and gathered in the Colony. Although _ the beet eojomal rye, even from Mission Stations, may die out in time, the DHAUiN EAVER, brought here by the Miss : onariee some fifty years ago, though sown in many different localities, remains in th© ground to-day; this applies also to th* same seed brought out by the Devonshire fanrliee ntarly forty years ago. Indeed, although Taranaki Soil is very reluctant to accept Colonial aud the ordinary imported Ryo Seed, it has Xwn a remarkable liking for SUTTON'S DEVON EAVER. This is such a well known fact amongst the more observant Taranaki farmers that we were pressed on all sides to gft supplies from Suttons of this Seed. We have sold out our first two shipments, and the third, comprising 20 tanks, has just arrived pea- Corinthic. A largo quantity of tliis has been booked for all parts of Taranaki by our shrewdest fanners who realise that a good sowing is as important as a pood burn. The Rye. all comes out in sealed tanks, thus preserving its vitality. P S— Don't confuse Suttons Dwon Eaver Rye Grass Seed with other 'peed -sold as imported English Perennial Ryo-there is as great a difference as between sunshine and darkness.
