[PBESS ASSOCIATION.] WELLINGTON, April 13. The local art gallery was burgled between 5.30 on Saturday and 2.80 o'clock .yesterday afternoon, and the 1 famous landscape painting, by B. W. Leader, R.A., was stolen. The painting, which represented an English landscape Xview -- from Burrey Hills), was on canvas about 4ft by sft, and was safe when the gallery was closed on Saturday. Yesterday the frame was discovered in an. ante-room, and a dark lahtery, jemmy and other burglarious tools were lying around. The picture was brought to New Zealand by Mr A. Longdon, with othes English works of art, for the re«ent New Zealand Exhibition, and subsequently £was ; purchased by Mrs" W.
