THERE IS NOTHING NEW ABOUT SUTTON’S DEVON E&YER IT IS OVER 100 YEATS OLD. \ S Rye Grass is the principal grass in all pastures for sheep or cattle, it is very important that the greatest caution and care be exeovisea in securing seed which will prove perennial and will not run out. Experience in England has proved that seed saved by Suttons, from their old pastures m Devonshire, gives not only a grass which will last foi all but one which has easily a greater feeding value than all others Exactly the same applies in this colony. The noted pastures in Poverty Ba.y and Haw he’s Bay were all laid down with, this seed more than fifty years ago, and are as good to-day as they ever were*, in fact, each year they improve. Also, there is no doubt whatever that the finest stands of Rye in Taranaki are those very old pastures which wefe sown down with this old Devonshire seed in the earlv days by the Missionaries It lias held tetter than all the seeds since sown and gathered m the Colony. Although the best colonial rye, even from Mission Stations, may die out in time, the DE\ON EAVER, brought here by the Miss Vnariee some fifty year’s ago, though sown in many different localities, remains in the ground to-day j this applies also to th* l same seed brought out by the Devonshire families nearly forty years ago. In deed, although Taranaki Soil is very reluctant to accept Colonial and the ordinary imported Rye Seed, it has shown a remarkable liking for SUTTON’S DEVON EAVER. This is such a well known fact amongst the more observant Taranaki farmers that we were pressed on all sides to gft supplies from Suttons of this Seed. We have sold out our first two shipments, and the third, comprising 20 tanks, lias just arrived per Corinthic. A large quantity of this has been booked lor all parts of Taranaki by our shrewdest farmers who realise that a good so wing is as important as. a good burn. The Rye.' all comes out in sealed tanks, \ thus pi eservjng its vitality. P.S. —Don’t confuse Suttons Devon Eaver Rye Grass Seed with other seed sold as imported English Perennial Ry<>—there is as great a difference as between sunshine and darkness.
