' At the meeting of, .the Hawera Bororigh Council. on Wednesday night, ■ . - Mr Worthy^forwardefl 'the fallowing return of stock slaughtered during the month : Cows 68, heifers 23, calves 8, sheep 253, lamb's 487 pigs 41;\wholly condemned,' l^cow. "The fee's totalled £98 14s 9d, being an increase of £17 2s 9d on the return for March, 1907The average age, of cattle slaughtered' was 5.3 years; total 'weight" of cattle slaughtered (hot) 52;4331b; the heaviest beast weighed (hot) 8611bs.
The return for the half-year was also submitted as follows :— l Cows slaughtered 296; bullocks and heifers 215, calves 49, sheep 1340, lambs 414, pigs 232. Compared with the period from October, 1906, to March, 1907,. the return shows an' increase of 60 cattle, 18 calves, 65 sheep, 50 pigs, and a de-< crease of 51 lambs. Stock wholly condemned: Cows $, bullock 1, pigs 3; partially condemned; cows 14, bullocks and heifers 13, pigs and sheep 8. The fees '.totalled £3,77 1b fcelj^aa »«*«««» o* £39 168^. for the corresponding halfyear, 1906-7.
