[press association.] WELLINGTON, April 9. Fred. Anderson, a single man, was struck on the head by a coal basket while working on the steamer Waipu. He was removed to the hospital for treatment. CHRISTCHTJRCH, April 9. The police have received information that a child of three years named Mammie Allen Rossiter, daughter of Richard Rossiter, of Cooper's Creek, near Oxford, died from the effects of burns. The child was playing in the kitchen while her parents were out milking. Ehe stayed near the fire, and her nightgown caught. . The girl was severely burned' before her. cries attracted help.
