Bulimm Notice*. SUTTONS DEVON EAVER RYE. IT IS PERENNIAL AND IT WILL NOT RUN OUT. THERE IS NOTHING NT!W ABOUT SUTTON'S DEVON E&YER IT IS OVER 100 TEAL'S OLD. A S Rye Grass is tho principal grass in all pastures for sLeep or cattle^ **■ *• it is very important that the greatest caution and card be exj eireised in securing seed which will proe perennial and will not run out. Experience in England kas proved that seed saved by Suttona, from their old pastures in Devonshire, gives not only a grass which will last foi all time, but one which has easily a greater feeding value than all others Exactly the same applies in this colony. Tbe noted pastures in Torerty Bay and Hawke's Bay were all laid down with this seed more than fifty years ago, a-td are as good to-day as they j ever were; in fact* each year tliey improve. Also, there is no doubt whatever that the finest stands of Rye in Taranaki are those very old pastures Avhich were sown down with this old Devonshire seed in the early days by tun Missionaries It lias held better than all the seeds since sown and gathered in the Colony. Although the best colonial rye, even from Mission Stations, may die out in time, the DEVON EAVER, brought here by the Miss : i-nariee some fifty years ago^ though sown in many different localities, remains in the ground to-day; this applies also to the same seed brought out by the Devonshire fanvlies nearly forty years ago. Indeed, although Taranaki Soil is very reluctant to accept Colonial and the ordinary imported Rye Seed, ifc has shewn a remarkable liking for BUTTON'S DEVON EAVER. Thia is such a well known fact amongst the more observant Taranaki farmers that we were pressed on all sides to gft supplies from Suttons of this Seed. We havd sold out our first two shipments, and the third, comprising 20 tanks, has just arriv ed per Corinthic. A largo quantity of this has been booked for all parts of Taranaki by our shrewdest fanners who realise that a good so wing is as important as # a £ood burn. The Rye all comes out in sealed tanks, thus pieservjng its ! vitality. p.S. — Don't confuse Suttons Deivon Eaver Rye Grass Seed with, other peed sold as imported English Perennial Ryu — there is as great a difference aa between sunshine and darkness. We guarantee satisfaction, and you have Suttons name, which has been pre-eminent for 101 years, as a further wai ranty of satisfaction. REMEMBER I IT IS THE ONLY TRUE PERENNIAL RYE. A LITTLE HISTORY. WILSON'S pILIiS date book to the dayi before the iron hone, to the dan when th«n wtM no railways, and when the means of trarel aad communication were slow and primitire. There are many old colonists who remember what an Englhh villaye was like in those days— quiet, peace* ful secluded, practically shut oft from tbe rest of the world. There was no oalling the doctor by telephone, no bioyoie on which to jump if tbe telephone wasn't handy. And, most important of all, ttere was very likely no doctor to De had, except from the nearest market town. Wbafrmore natural than that tbe village folks, thrown so largely upon their own resources, made it their business to KEEP WELL i They went to Nature for their Medicine, and Nature, from her storehouse ol medicinal roots and herbs, gave them many very wonderful medicinei. It waa under these circumstances that WILSON'S PILLS came to be compounded. Their secret waa discovered by a clever old villager in the North of England, and for years he went about among I the villages curing the people of the common every-day ailments whioh befel them. His pills I became the standard medicine of all who became acquainted with their .remarkable curative | properties, and people used to wait for his coming and then buy * sufficient supply lor use until ■ tbe time fixe d for his next visit to their neighbourhood. Titty years ago these pills oame under I tbe notice of the Wilnon family, and ever since they have been in regular use t>y the menbers of tbe family, their friends, and many of their employees. The original owner ol the formula died many years ago, and left his precious secret to bis ion, from whom Mr Samuel Wilson purchased tbe sole right to compound and Bell this wonderful medicine. He brought hit family out to the colonies, first to South Africa, then to Australia, and finally to this oolony, where he settled as a country gentleman on his property, •' Cornholme," near Wanganui. Of course he brought tbe formula of the pills with him, and it is to hi* credit that while he refused to put them on the market he nevertheless spent much time and money in preparing them for free distribution among his friends and relatives in all parts of the world. He gave away many hundreds of boxes and frequently sent packages to England, France and Australia. 'But, although often asked to do so, Mr Wilton declined to put the pills on the public market. He was wrong, for no man has a right to withold a valuable medicine from his fellows, and*Mr Wilson ultimately oame to ice it in that light. Unhappily, it happened that on the very day (Jnne 10th, 1967) on wbioh he com* pleted the necessary arrangements preliminary, to placing the Pills on the market M* Wilson met with a trap accident in Victoria Avenue, Wanganui, and sustained injuries from whioh he succumbed a few hours afterwards. He had, however, made known bis intentions to his wife, and that good lady did all In her power to facilitate tbe marketing of the pills. Tiis is the history ol WILSON'S PILLS, and it only needs to be added that the faith of Mr Wilson and his family in their curative properties has beem endorsed by high medical testimony as to the medicinal excellence of the formula. The Pills have been registered as " WILSON'S PILLS," and are now offered to the public at a price whioh brings them within easy reach of ereryoae ,~ ..:_•* "._ They are compounded ol the purest ingredients, in faithful acoerd with the oririiii formula, to whioh a pure sugar-coating has been added.
