The private wealth of the Dominion has been estimated as for the year 1906, calculating on the assumption that the wealth of the living is proportionately equal to that left by the dead. Working on the adult method, but excluding Maoris, the results for New Zealand, calculated on figures for the five years ended with 1906, were as under: — Private Wealth in New Zealand. 1. Wealth per head of total estimated population on 31st December, 1906 £835 The calculation has been made on the same method as that adopted in Australian States.
