TWO LIVES LOST
HUSBAND AND WIFE DROWNED.

GREYMOUIH, AprU 7. News was received in town to-night of a distressing- ; drowning fatality at Ahaura, whereby Mr and Mrs James Doolan, of Slatey Creek, were drowned. Deceased attended a funeral at Nelson Creek, and left Ahaura at five o'clock to cross the Ahaura river. Both were on one horße in fording the river, and must have been swept off. A boat half a mile down was conveying passengers when the body of a woman was found floating down. It was secured and brought to the shore, but life was extinct. The body of the husband was recovered higher up the stream. Deceased leave eight young children, the eldest being thirteen years of age. Doolan was a settler at Slatey Creek, Moonlight.
