(From Our Own Correspondent.) The Kaponga Braes Band, under Bandmaster Eccleston, irendered a. select, programme of music from the hrifcel balcony on Saturday night. The band have lately purchased two large acetylene gas lamps or torches which are a great improvetnenfMb'h the old style 'if kerosene torches,' and give a beautiful light. Other bands might follow the lead of the local band, .as,, I am sure it would b^ a, step in the right direction, as the lamps are easily 1 natodled both ia 1 practice room and for open-air coiice^te; ;J " . ' S'The weather is still showery, rain having fallen steadily off and on most of the week. 1 -'
The Rugby Club held a practice match an Saturday laet, , there was a fair attendance. It ' was practically Redded to hold a practice at. Riverlea Public Hall on Tuesday night next, as 'this hall is more central to the members. It ia expected that the -Club will arrange to engage* -the Riverlea and Kaponga Halls for practice week about during the coming season.
The milk supply at the factories ia stall keeping well up to past years. - Most of t the factories have started making butter* instead ofc cheese; ■>.
