NATIVE LAND SETTLEMENT.
AUCKLAND, April 6
The Hon. James Carroll, Native Minister, has been asked to attend a meeting ©f Maoris in the North for the. purpose of discussing the land question. As regards the Waharoa native meeting, the chief Taingakawa made it clear that his people were averse to selling their land, as they had not too much, but what they did not require they were willing to lease. They wished the law to help)'t!gnlTit6-!iiHprove their estates and better themselves.
