RAILWAY APPEAL CASE.

The South Island Railway Appeal Board, Judge Haselden and Messrs Gray (Traffic Manager, Christchurch), and D. H. Jones (of the Dunedin workshops), sat yesterday to hear the appeal of S. P. Evans against the decision _of the department ,not to promote him in grade, Appellant conducted his own <jase, and Mr R. J. McVilly represented the department.
