KILLED BY A MOTOR CAR.
WELLINGTON, April 5. ' Murdoch Gillies, a i telegriph- 'dperator employed in the Wellington office, was killed on the Butt -ix>atf this " atternoon. He was cycling along the road with a companion, and, in attempting to cross in front of a motor car, was knocked down, the car passing over his body. He expired almost immediately. The car was owned by Goring Johnston and driven by a cha'ffeur named' : Barling. The occupants of the car were Johnston and F. Grace and two ladies. Gillies was 29 years of age, unmarried, and wae the eon of a farmer at Tapamui.
