Judgment was given fox plaintiff in the undefended case E. L'E. Barton v. M. A. Curain, claim £2 16s 4d.

JUDGMENT SUMMONS.

£. Tanrant (Mr Foy) v. H. G. Parsons, claim £7 17s 6d. Judgment debtor eaid he had mot paid anything off the account. He was ordered to pay forthwith, in default one week's imprisonment. Warrant was suspended conditionally upon certain payments being made.

a\ Harrison (Mr Foy) v. F. B'eavis, claim £4 13s lOd. Judgment debtor said he was prepared to pay 10s per month. The offer was accepted. BREACHES OF THE LICENSING ACT.

J. J. Connell, licensee of the Normanby Hotel, pleaded guilty to the charge that he did on November 24 (Sunday) sell liquor to two young men. Mr Welsh, who appeared for the defendant, said his client had been out of the business for some years. In his day it was legitimate to supply a bona fide traveller, On the day mentioned the two young fellows, who drove into Normanby, went in and each only had the one drink. There was no secret made of it by his client, who had acted in ignorance. Defendant had erred, foolishly erred. He would ask His Worship, in fixing the penalty, to take into consideration the circumstances mentioned, and not endorse the license.

A second information (that defendant did open his premises for the sale of liquor) was withdrawn, and upon the remaining charge the defendant was fined £* and costs 11s. The license was not endorsed. ■

Peter Jones and F. Dermer, for entering licensed premises during the currency of a prohibition order, were each fined £1 atad costs 7s. Charges of procuring liquor were withdrawn.

MOTOR BY-LAW CASE. J?. C. Norton, for having rioKTen his motor Wcycle round the .comer of High and Princes streets at a speed which was dangerous to the public, was fined 5s with costs 7s.
