NAPIER, December 2.

In reference to the telegram from Gisborne, enquiries have 'elicited the fact that Mr John Owens is at present in Napier. It is supposed from the description given that the body is that of a man named David James Young Kirk, in the employ of Nelson Bros., Limited, Tomoana, as a slaughterhouse clerk, and who left on transfer to uheir Gisborne branch on the 26th' November, but who has not put in. an appearance at the works there.

A nasty accident occurred at the Eltham railway station yesterday morning. Porter Arthur Clifford was engaged in shunting operations, and by some means got his right thigh between the buffers) of two trucks, and although the impact was comparatively slight he sustained a distressing wound and had to be driven to a doctor. No one seems to have been in the immediate vicinity at the time of the accident, and the injured man was found lying across the rails.
