A large number of manufacturers competed, both English and foreign, and it is satisfactory to know that the result is in favor of the British workman. The examination, which was conducted by about seven experts in pianos, was a severe one, and as no makers' name appeared on any of the instruments, there is no doubt as to its fairness.
