The biennial ..-ompetitions under the auspices of the United Fire Brigades' Association were continued to-day on she Exhibition sports ground. AH the morning was occupied with hose, hydrant and union event (£2O, £IC, £7, £4), and it is anticipated that matters will hay& to bo hurried considerably to brin? the competitions to a close to-morrow evening. Seventy-one teams competed, find the rest will be taken tjo-morflow morning. Hawera did very well, the time 1-eing 37 2-5. Stratford's tima was 38 4-5, Wanganui 37 2-5. Patea also ran. Rescue Event. First prize, £10; second, £6; third, £4; fourth, £2. Reefton, 23 4-ssec 1 Hastings, 25 3-ssec 8 Greyitouth, 26sce 3 Wadhi and Stratford faied for fourth at 26 3-5, and will run off to-morrow morning. Also competed : Patea (30sec). Wanganui (30 2-5), New Plymouth (30), and thirty other teams. Special Ambulance Event. First prize, £10: 2nd,' £s. — Ohirstchurch 1, Dunedin Railway 2, Gisborne 3.
