WEATHER TO THE RESCUE.
Upon the earth long, long ago, The people all were dummy ; Each person passed his neighbor by As silent as a mummy. The Weather chanced to come that way, And saw with consternation That in the world there seemed to be A lack of conversation.
"They need a topic, these poor folk \" Exclaimed the kindly Wieather ;
"If I provide one, they, perhaps, Will learn to chat together." With that it hailed, and stormed, and blew, And snowed, and fogged, and drifted; Then for a change it shone until The paint rose up and frizzled.
The spell was broken ! Silence now Was bainished altogether; And .since that day they've talked and
talked,
