THE BESSES 0" TH' BARN

Sir Joseph Ward, upon hearing the Besses o' th' Barn play for the first time when in Ohristchurch, determined to arrange if possible for the band to visit as many centres in New Zealand as could be arranged for. Messrs J. and N. Tait, the well-known entrepeneurs, have therefore fallen in with the Prime Ministor'e wish, and their enterprise in arranging for the famous combination to visit Hawera on Thursday and Friday next will no doubt reap its full reward. The first performance on Thursday evening has been arranged for the Opera House, so that the finer work of the "Besses" may be heard to the best advantage. Then again on Friday afternoon at the racecourse the band will be heard in one of their world-famous programmes, a programme which is saftd to have ctoatributed in no small degree in cementing the good feeling which exists between England and Fiance to-day. On Thursday evening the dloora will be open at 7 o'clock for the sale of early door tickets to the stalls \ these tickets are now on £a2e at Messrs Cole and Donnelly's, from whom patrons are advised to purchase to save possible disappointment. The train nOTanspenients. for Friday are all that can be desired, arid are published in this issue. Tickets for the course are now available at Mr F. H. Boose's. In the event of the weather being unpropitious the afternoon's performance will be given in the Opera House, and holders of racecourse tickets will find them available ftor tJue Opera House at theatre prices.
