Mr Mathieson addressed the first of a series of meetings in the district at Cheltenham kst night in (opposition to the Land Bill. The attendance was only small and a motion' adverse to the bill was carried unanimousjy.
FOKITTKA, March 9.
R S. Rowcliffe, an early pioneer settler of this district, passed away thi9 morning after a lingering illness.
During the pa>t twenty-four hours over Ii inches of rain has fallen, which is tfoo highest on record for ihe past 25 years. The lower portions of the town are flooded .*
