(From Our Own Correspondent.) The Alton Athletic Olub held their third annual sports meeting in Mr Lawrie's paddock on Wednesday last. The weather was. all that could be desired. A most ! enjoyable day was spent. The different officials, who carried out their duties satisfactorily, were : — Judges, field events Me3s>*s Washer and Hodge, honae eve%ts Messrs, Pcarce and' Patterson: starters, Messrs Sutherland and Allan; clerk of course, Mr W. Armstrong; horse steward. Mr A. Allan. The handioappers, Messrs Pcaroe and Swinburne, are to be congratulated on the very close finishes. Mr C. E. James as Secretary was at the call of every one the whole day. A l>all was held in the evening which. proved a- great success, the hall being racked. Iho music was supplied by Misb Pentecost.
