HAWERA ABATTOIRS
(To the Editor.)
Sir, — Having returned to HaweTa after an absence of nearly five years, and being interested somewhat in the meat business, I was astonished to find no chilling rooms in connection, with the abattoirs. Now, to my mind a small refrigerator would be a great economy of labor, and the meat would be delivered/ to the public in a fresh condition, for all that is killed for th© Hawera butchers one day's killing would do the lot. Pay two of the butchers supplying a man each for one day, the foreman would receive a salaTy, and for him to be responsible for delivery of each butcher's meat, tue inspection could be done by a vet. on the one da^r of killing, and paid accordingly; curtailing the expenses very considerably, which would more than pay the interest on the purohase of a chilling plant, and be a great boon to the butchers as well as th© public of Hawera. — I am, etc.,
RATEPAYER.
