THIRD DAY.

The men*si championship singles again fell to A. G. Wallace, the holdet of the challenge cup for the year just closed. Victory went to the Taranaki representative in the ladies' championship singles, Miss Powdrell winning from Miss Udy } of Auckland. Missi Gray, an Auckland player, who has just completed six days' play in the, big tournament at Christchurch, won the ladies' handicap singles. With Miss Udy, she was also successful in the 'championship doubles, defeating Misses Thomson and Beirry in the final. Miss Powdrell and- Dickie put up a great figiht in the last games for the combined championship doubles, and succeeded in retaining the championship. Miss Gray and Peaa-se, the .runtteJns-up, weire very little inferior. After a sturdy and plugging game, Dr Fookes vanquished Dr lxeitih in the fourth round of the men's handicap singles, and soon afterwards took the court against Pearse in the final. The latter was giving away points, and caught the local man at -60, but >the latter kept haird at it, and improved his play and hie 1 position, eventually snatching victory at 60 — 58. Dickie and Wallace won the men's handicap doubles comfortably from Medley and Weir. The struggle of the day was in the final for the men's cham- ! pionship doubles, where Wallace and Dickie, the present holders, had to do battle against Dr Keith and Grossman. The local men won afteT a very haid struggle, 6—2.6 — 2. Misses A. and E. Dickie carried off the trophies in the ladies' .handicap doubles, winning by two points from Misses Gray and Udy, 55 — 53.

Tlje second annual interprovincial tournament between Auckland and Taranaki representative teams will be played, the teams icluding practically the pick of the tournament competitors. Mr J. Grossman will captain the visitors and Mr C. J. Dickie the Taranaki team. The playeirs are : — Auckland : Mieses Udy, Gray, i Harvey, and Buttle, Dr Keith, Messrs Grossman, W. Brown, S.
