Reuter's correspondent at Johannesburg telegraphs that Sir G. H. Farrar, in the oounse of a speech at Boksburg, warned the Transvaal that the highest financial authorities of the Continent declare that if the Rand's labor supply is tampered with they will not sink another penny in thje mines, and will remove what capital they have already invested. As the natives worked only six months out- of twentyfiour months, 124,000 would be required to replace the 60,000 Chinese laborers now on thie Rand. He anticipated an increase in labor-saving apparatus in the mines. Sir G. H. Farrar advocated the re-enact-ment of tihe labor importation ordinance until adequate native labor is available.
