(Received July 10, 9.52 p.m.) LONDON, July 10. Monday's Birmingham demonstrations chiefly recognised Mr Chamberlain's strenuous Parliamentary .activity and devotion to national and Imperial ideals. He was the recipient of a great number of congratulatory messages, including one from the Queen, also telegrams from th© colonies and hundreds from London. The Stock Exchanges sent an address.

At Bingley Hall in the evening, in the presence of an enthusiastic crowd of ten thousand people, Mr Chamberlain received over a hundred addresses of congratula lions. He delivered a vigorous speoh, reviewing bis political life and vindicating his attitude towards the great problems of recent politics, insisting that the strengthening of the bonds of union of the Empire was the highest object of statesmanship. He was confident the reforms he advocated would be achieved, and personally he was satisfied with the way things were moving.
