On reaching New York, President Roosevelt's carriage met Sir Joeeph Ward and conveyed him to Cagamore Hill, wheir© he lunched' with the President.

Interviewed at Oyster Bay, Sir Joseph Ward referred to New Zealand's surplus wool and kauri gum, regarding which New Zealand was able to negotiate for reciprocity with the United States. Without reference to Britain, he was prepared to take the preliminary steps, and on his. departure leave the matter in the hands of the British Embassy.

Leading New York editors entertained Sir Joseph .at lunch a£ the Waldorf Hotel.

He discussed the question of reciprocity in natmral products between America and New Zealand with principal citizens.

[Sir Joseph Ward was timed to leave New York on Saturday on Saturday night for the West. He takes his departure from San Francisco for New Zealand on Thursday, and should arrive in Aucklaiod on 30th inst.]
