THE HURRAY WATERS.

PREMIERS ARRIVE AT AN AGREE-

MENT.

[PBESS ASSOCIATION.] ((Received April 13, 10.10 a.m.)

SYDNEY, April 13. The Premiers have arrived affan arrangement respecting the Muttray waters.

The. basis is that the. channel of the* river will be locked at various points, be- ' tween Blanchtown and Ecbuca, and the MuMTimbidgee from ite junction with the Murray to Hay. The estimated cost is two and a-quaxter million- sterling, but the work is only to be .proceeded with as it becomes apparent that irrigation, requirements are interfering with navigation. In order to give South Australia greater facilities for navigation, Lake Victoria will be weired, and the water thus- impounded will make the Murray navigable for tTntee months longer than at present. The three States, South Australia, Victoria, and New South 'Wales, share the expense equally. The Premiers meet on Monday to ratify the agreement.
