Bofore she reached the room, Mrs Williams j had fallen oa the bed unconscious by the side of her infant. Mrs Reed cried out to 'heT husband, amd he ran up, only to find bis wife lying senseless on the floor. He could feel fcbe gas oveipoweiring himself, but he had the presence of mind to •rush to a window and smash it, and to call for assistance to a constable in the street. Then he staggered downßtaire, semi-con-scious, and opened the door to the police. Willing rescuers were at once hard at work. Mr and Mrs Reed, Mrs Williams and her baby, Idris Jones, and Miss TidmaTeh, all of them unconscious except Mr Reed, were taken into neighboring houses, where the police rendered first-amd fill doctots could be fetched. Subsequently the sufferers with the exception- of Mr Reed, were removed to the East Ham Hospital. Later in the day they were- reported to be out of danger. — London Daily Mail.
