CASTLE'S GRUESOME SECRET

, ARMOUR AND SKELETONS EOUND IN IRISH CAVERN. While digging on land near FTenchpark ; County Roscommon, in March, a laborer discovered a cavern with aa arched Toof about 6ft- in depth. From this a narrow winding passage led to an old 1 caetle, about a quarter of a mile distant. The -underground passage is well built, amd some of the walls, bear traces of inscriptione, wEile a* a certain point a number of skeletons and bones 'weire. found, together with a quantity of metal, which proved to be armour and weapooos, evidently of great antiquity. An old legend in connectioni with the castle runs to the effect that agee ago the remains of one of the most powerful of the Connaught clans took refuge in this castle after their defeat in' battle, and being driven into the passage it was closed up at< either end by their foes and the warriors were thus left to their death.
