MORE NURSES WANTED.
THE GOVERNMENT SCHEME.
[PRESS ASSOCIATION.] ' CHRISTCHURCH, April 11. The Premier this' morning discussed with the North Canterbury Hospital Board the Government proposal to pay Boards £25 per annum per head to train nurses He stated that the desire of the Government was to place nursing skill ait the disposal of all people, and that many more nurses were required. The Board replied that it was already training 16 probationers, and could not provide' work for more, but would be willing to assist the movement if possible. A home for incurable was mentioned, and the Premier stated that the Board could not draw any line of distinction between curable and incurable cases. Both required treatment and attention, and sbould receive these from the hospital authorities. If the hospital aocommodaticn were. not sufficient, then the Government should be asked to assist in extending the buildings.
