CAPE GOVERNMENT TO HOLD AN"
EXHIBITION IN LONDON.
Canada has won the title of the Graaary o£ t'hie Empire; South, Africa intends to be the Erapbw's Fruit; Garden.
Some ie-n of the colonies' fruits have already beea ssjmi in Covent Garden, but a number hava not y«t reached this country. In order that they may be placed before the public and a demand for them created the Ga-p"- Go-veriunent- is orgaaiising a show, to be held in the Royal Horticultural Hatl, Vincent square, on March 22, 23, and 24, 1906.
The eshibite -will include grapes. peaTs, apples, plums (Japanese and other varieties), peaches, pineapples, almonds, walnuts, prunes, apricots, bottled fruits, and< preserves. Ih&ne will also be everlasting flowers, tobacco, figs, and photographs and paintings of Cape flowers and scenery, while papers describing the resources of the colony will be read.
The data is regarded as too late by th© Transvaal and Orange Eiver Colony. There will, however, be exhibits from Natal and Rhodesia, aasd the display will surprise thos? wiiopg acquaintance with South Africa, tb Hmitted to the Stock Exchange, and who believe gold and diamonds are ite only source® of wealth. The TJjrion/Castle line me> carrying the exhibits free, and the Roy^ Horticultural Society are allowing them to be shown without any charge. Displays of the producte of Australia aed New Zealand and Canada and the West Indies will be held in the same hall on. June 6 amd 7 and December 4 and 5 Tsspectively. — London Mail.
