When se<en this afternoon concerning the action of the Federal Company in rev 1 during fares and freights between New Zealand and London, Mr Isaac Gibbs, genera-l manager of the New Zealand Shipping Company, said : "The sasbuation is quite dear. These people have been pinpricking us for some tune. Now they are attacking us. It goes without saying fehat we shall take the necessary steps to protect our interests, and otrr clients may' rest assured that they will receive as favorable treatment from us as from any other line. The action of the Fedenl-' ( Houlder Line necessarily entails an all- ! round reduction of freights and faor-?s. Whether 'these will be permanent or only temporary remains to be seen. Beyond j this I have nothing to say." !
