Kaponga is still on the move, we having now a full-blown photographer in our midst. He has started business in the Coffee Palace buildings.

The local cricketers are wondering why the South Taranaki Management Committee have not got the season's fixtures out.

Mr AIL Gray, headmaster of the Opunake school, brought a team of his school boys to try conclusions with the local school boys at a game of cricket on the park last Saturday. The game resulted in an easy win for the Kaponga boys. During the afternoon refreshments were handed round by the girls. A Kaponga resident is in receipt of a new song composed by Mr Geo. Garry, of New Plymouth, it being named "Just leave the top line as it stands." Some of the boys have taken it in hand to sing at the next temperance meeting; a sort of opposition to tne lively old song "Strike out the top line.' ' The Catholic social, which is to be held in the Athenaeum Hall on {he 16th inst., promises to be a great success; already a record number of tickets have been disposed of. The Kaponga Brass Band journeys to Manaia on Thursday next (King's Birthday) to attend the Manaia Band's Picnic. The Tennis Club are talking about holding sports here next Boxing Day. The local butter factory is in full swing now. The supply having doubled this last month.

The EltKam Rifle B. team tried conclusions with the Kaponga Rifle Club's B. team on the local range last Saturday. The Eltham team won by one point. The ranges were 200 and 500 yards. The result was as follows : — Eltham : Roskrudge 20, 19; Fake 21, 15; Ramsey 28, 24; Andrews 17, 16; JS'orbes 29, 21; Killeher 26, 16; Reardon 25, 10; Heaven 28, 13; Vincent 31, 30. Total, 388. Kaponga: Pitcher 27, 31 ; Sargeson 23, 19 ; Parr 30, 31 ; Buckingham 26, 26 ; G*y 31, 29 ; Gapper 17, 6; Brick 27, 9; Bayent 23, 12; Allan 25, 5. Total, 387.
