WHAT ABOUT THE REVENUE?
. Occasionally some belated citizen, with his night-cap hanging over one eye, wants to know: ''What about the revenue!" He might as well continue his sltmbers if he does not know that the payment of three millions sterling to get £700,000 in "revenue is a charming specimen of finance. A syndicate would gladly take the three millions per annnm now spent in drink, and contribute double the amount to the revenue that it now receives. New Zealand would be infinitely better off under such an arrangement. Three millions spent in liquov, and another million expended to counteract the evil results of the drinking— all to get £700,000 in revenue. The man who advocates the liquor traffic for the sake of revenue must have forgotten all he ever learned.
