The crush that cricketers think should have been seen at Bayly Park on Saturday afternoon, in view of the game being practically the opening one of the season, was not in evidence. With such lovely weather, a very passable wicket, and the ground in good order, it was disappointing to say the least of it to see such a poor attendance of players. Sides were picked by E. Cole and W. Cole. The former side batted first. E. Cole 12 and A'Court (not out) 16 were the chief scorers out of a total of 42. McCarthy, 5 for 22, W. Cole, 3 for 17, were the bowlers. The other side did much better, making 116. W. Cole 62 (retired) was top notcher. Nicholson 16 (retired), Storey 16 (not out), and extras 11 were the other main contributors. Eight bowlers were tried, five of whom took wickets. Some promising players are among the new-comers. •
