It is stated at Odessa that General Reims, when informing the 12th Army Corps that it was ordered to the front, declared he could not go. The soldiers shouted '"Scoundrel I" and Reims shot dead a corporal who could not name the shouters. The men thereupon literally lore Reims to pieces.
