WIRTH BROS' CIRCUS.

Messrs Wirth Bros, will open their allied shows, comprising a circus and a 200 of wild animals, at Hawera on Saturday, March 25. The comoination is claimed to be one of the largest in the world. The public will have an opportunity of witnessing the sensational acts— "Leaping the chasm" and looping Kilpatriek's "Death-trap loop"— by the danger-deriding Chcfalu. Tne first of these feats is "leaping the tli4sm," On » stage raised to a height of 40ft Chefalo mounts a bicycle, and rides down an incline at a terrible pace until he reaches an uprise carve in the framework. Then <]nick as a flash he is thrown into, the air and across the "chasm," a distance of 42ft, landing on a second incline, which Ithoots him into the vicinity of the dressing tent. The "deathtrap loop" is an ingenious structure, built like the ordinary loop. From a small stage, built at an elevation of 60ft, Chefalo, who is an atheltic-looking young Italian, rides a bicycle down an ' incline which connects with a loop about 25ft ; high. The bottom of the structure is arranged so as to work on a pivot, and the ends are curved so as to fit into the other part of the framework. As Chefalo reaches the end of the shutter on his perilous. journey, and the front wheel of his machine shoots on to .the loop fixture, a spring releases the shutter, which, falling at this end, throws the other end into position so as to meet him on his way outi. The act is truly the most dangerous ever seen. Tom Colquet, Hhe champion jumper, will perform some remarkable Jricks. He jumps over some chairs onto a man's face and off. again, into a basket of eggs and out again . without breaking an egg, and several other tricks. He is also champion athletic jumper of the world; '■ Amongst the ether slrtists are Mr ■ P. , Wirth, witii hii splendid black stal,. lion Bobs and his school of highly.trained horses and ponies; 3lons. Ragoul, with* JCifcty, tne Blondih tigress/ and two'won--derfully-trained tigeM, Pasha andjPrince.i The items are so numerous and wonderful ithafe^ space will nw allow of -any attempt at e^Bmera^ion.' This 1 gigantic.combinktion is' fresh, up-to-date, and, ,, it. is Claimed, beyond anything hitherto seeii in the Australian colonies. . ": ' * .
