CHRISTCHURCH, March 17. '■ There was a good attendance at Lancaster Park for the championship athletic meeting, although the day was cold and overcast. The visiting athletes all showed good form. Shrubb won the three mile event with ease, and Duffey won his heat of the 100 yards championship, pulling up m lOsec dead, and he appears to have the final at his mercy to-morrow. In the 75 yards handicap he was second in his heat, conceding nine yards to the winner. He won the semi-final through beating the starter, but could not get up in the final. Widner (New South Wales) only appropriated the 440 yards championship after a great struggle with Pollock.
